What to Consider When Choosing a Shredding Company
NAID AAA Certification
Many Government Agencies require the AAA certification for their Shredding vendors and the IRS Publication 1075 (2016) acknowledges the importance of NAID AAA Certification.
If a company meets the AAA certification you are assured, they meet the highest level of industry compliance for security in handling your documents. This certification includes annual, surprise inspections from Industry professionals to ensure the company is in compliance with AAA level certification.
Company Reputation
To ensure you are hiring a reputable company, read online reviews and look at the company’s website to get more information about the business and their security procedures. Has the company been in business a long time and established themselves as leaders in their industry? Or is it a newer company with little experience?
Security Procedures
Speak with the company sales representative to review their security and destruction procedures. Take a tour of their facility – online or in person. Ask about the company hiring procedures, background check and average length of employment.
Chain of Custody
Ask the company to explain their Chain of Custody procedures. Does it include a locked bin, secure, GPS transportation, security procedures and cameras at their facility?
Certificate of Destruction
Does the company provide a Certificate of Destruction? This guarantees that your documents have been securely destroyed and it is important for compliance purposes.
